Current Mood: excited excited

Hey there,

I just received recently an e-mail from the author I was trying to get in contact with about the book for my turn for BLBC hosting and they have had some troubles with accessing the website mail and such, but...

Vashti has copies of the text Which Is Out Of Print! And if I'm *we're* still interested she'll get them to us at reduced price, which I thank her for and think it's just great.

So, what I'm asking is if you would be interested in getting a copy of Vashti Farrer's Escape to Eaglehawk. It is probably the only chance that there will be that a copy of this text is available *apart from searching someplace like ebay* new. I would really like all you guys to read it as I think it's an amazing text, and this would have been my text...but anyway now you have a chance to have it.

Now the cost
It's less than retail price, but..
to pay I have to do a money order which costs a few $ and if we split all the costs it should end up less than ten dollars each. But I'm not 100% on this as I need to have a certain amount of books, I think. If you're willing to get this text could you let me know by friday 19th (that's this friday) before 10am by e-mail if that's how you want to OR before & definitely after this date (19 October) by phone (you know my number) 'cus I don't have net access and you'd just be wasting your time. I'll talk more about it if you have any questions when you get back to me with a yes, possibly yes or a no and if you're looking at getting the text you'll need to get $10 to me (I'll discuss this with you when I receive you're response). The $10 if it covers all costs *which it should* and there is left over I'll calculate the change and get it back to you on reciept of the text with your copy of the text. There may be if you're interested, the chance to have your copy of the text signed by Vashti, although I haven't really discussed this with her, I'm sure it could be arranged.

Anyway, I think that is all and I await your reply.
I will be putting in the order (sending off a snail mail) probably on the date of the 16th of November, so if all organising getting back to me with your yes/no/possibly reply could be completed by Wednesday the 14th November that would be great. Do realise please that any communication received after this date without prior arrangement with me will more than likely result in you not getting a copy of the text.

Love and best wishes

29th June @ 05:41 pm

Ok so on the 29th of June BC was held at my place (roesha) and I have to admit that when I got the monies for BC I was like 'money, shoooooppppppiiing spreeeeeeeeee!'
So, I went to some places I thought interesting to seek out some cool texts for BC. That led me on just shy of a goose chase around Bgo, but it was fun and ended with me almost coinless and with 3 different texts.
We started the night around 7 I think it was and had Spaghetti Boglnaise, Sprite, Lift, oh, before that Snakes...I love Allans lollies! Annnnd, Ice Cream!
Then came the surprise! I love them don't you?

Hey all members,

this month's meeting was hosted by Anthony (with pizza!). Since book club this year seems to be more like movie club, we went to see the new Pirates Movie.

Feel free to leave any comments/thoughts on the movie here, and I'll make a new post in a few days times with everyone's thoughts.

Remember, you don't need to have a Livejournal account to leave comments (Speak like a Leek!), so please, comment away and give me your thoughts!!

Meeting Friday 30th March @ 11:49 pm

Meeting was held by Ally in Melbourne.
In attendance was Alyson, Rhiannon & Roesha.
The meeting started with a trip from Mitcham Station where Roe met Rhiannon & Ally, before all headed for Centro The Glen. Once there we, after a few hiccups met with two fabulously interesting friends of Ally's and proceeded to Village Cinemas to view TMNT. Preceding this of course is the traditional dinner, which in this case was held at The Pancake Parlor in Glen Waverly. On the menu was a combination of sweet and savory, pancakes of course then, after the episodes with the waiter (don't ask.) we finished a filling tea, & went to view TMNT, with popcorn of course. I ask 'What is a movie without popcorn?'

So how was it? It definitely brought back memories for everyone I'm sure, but as with every meeting you'll have to wait to discuss until we meet, whenever that may be. (Note the loose terms I used...yeah I know, but I had to.)

So...till next time I guess

I'll post who hosts the next one on as a comment WHEN I find it *it's written here somewhere...all the paperwork's at home... two homes just doesn't work sometimes.

Wahoo!! Another meeting has passed!!!

Business is that the Christmas party is getting closer everday and we need to get our masks ready. Thanks to Rhiannon for reminding us!!

This week's meeting was held at Anthony's house and was a bunch of fun, thanks for hosting Anthony, even if not everyone could come. You were there in spirit, we love you all!!

Onto thoughts of the book!

White Tiger
by Kylie Chan

It turns out that we don't have to wait years for the next book either, as we all so feared. The next book will be out on the 31st January next year (this equals some really loud, excited screaming).

This week's book is

by Terry Pratchett

Now for photos!

There were also two great videos taken, yay.

Next meeting will be held at Miranda's house!

Thank you to all who attended the meeting!! After which Alyson and I decided to drunk... and that didn't even happen. Sad, hey? There aren't any photos really, I'm sorry.

Current Mood: awake awake

YAY! Another meeting has gone past, but I've been so bloody lazy that I haven't typed the thoughts up, of course, lol.

This past meeting was held at Caroline's house, who made a delicious tea consisting of carbonara, quiche and a salad, topped off with a beautiful created ice-cream cake in honour of Kitty's birthday. Thank you to Caroline!

We also dressed up, seeing as the meeting was held on Friday the 13th (Spooky)

Business was brought up concerning the use of the website (if you read this, please, hit leave a comment and leave me a comment *cries*), the quickly-arriving Christmas party, as well as comments on past books.

If we read a book a few weeks back, but you're only reading it now, PLEASE leave a comment and let us know what you think. Or, if your parents or siblings are reading the book, leave us a comment about what they think! It'll be good to know!!

Okay, onto the thoughts from last week's book:

The Road to Jellicoe by Melina Marchetta

Now, for this fortnight, we're reading (as picked by Caroline)

A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray

Now the photos!!

Also, being as it was Friday the 13th, as previously stated, we all dressed up! Here are our costumes!!

Next meeting will be held on Friday the 27th, and will be hosted by Samantha.... but at Belinda's house.

Presenting the notes from this weeks Bearded Leeks Book Club meeting!!

This meeting was hosted by Alyson and took place in Melbourne, which meant that attendance was lower, with only five of us being there, but we still had fun none the less! The train ride was fun, though I think Alyson was a little embarrassed by us when we reached Melbourne and went on the met train, getting excited by this, that and everything else.

Also, due to time constraints and travel organisation, the meeting occured over a delicious lunch with members checking in with their thoughts of the phone. We're yet to hear from anyone overseas, but it would be great if someone read the book, LOL!

Anyway, thoughts on the book we read last week...

This weeks book was also unveiled at the meeting, and it appears that we will be reading:

On the Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta

(anyone who doesn't have their copy of this book should contact Alyson ASAP)

Now for the photos!!!

Also, while in Melbourne, an interesting idea was coined and developed, something that's going to be so much fun!! But that will be discussed at the next meeting, which is to be held on the 13th of October (Friday the 13th!) at Caroline's house :-)

The meeting on the 27th of October which is meant to be hosted by Miranda has now been taken over by Samantha and will be happening at Belinda's house.
